Cup advice pls

Weaning is going fine with 6.5mo DS but complicated slightly by the fact he has bad eczema, particularly on his hands, and has to wear mitts most of the day as he scratches like a maniac and makes his hands bleed if you take them off. Anyway feeding is not a problem as he can quite happily grab a spoon with mitts on and shovel food into his own mouth... but I have been trying to get him to drink water from a Tommy Tippee first cup, which is proving harder. He is interested and gets the general idea, but finds it hard to handle with mitts on and gets frustrated and throws it around. If I take his mitts off he doesn't take more than a sip or two before he starts madly scratching himself against it.

He is still exclusively BF so I think it's OK if he's not taking any water yet, but just wondering where to go from here. Are there any other cups which he might find easier? Or should I introduce a bottle for water? (Was hoping to skip bottles altogether and go straight from boob to cup...)

Can you not just hold it for him? 6.5 m is very young to be holding a cup and drinking from it by himself.

Flowertot, I will try that although he is a very grabby baby and I'm not sure he will consent to me holding the cup for him! (I can't get a spoon anywhere near his mouth if he's got a hand free as he has to grab it and feed himself.)

try a heinz soft spout one, they are small and without handles so would put both hands around it IYSWIM

Also just try an ordinary cup (no handles. Do I mean beaker?) without a lid. He could put his mitted hand You'll have to hold it with him for a bit, and it will be veeerrry messy, but if he's anything like mine, he'll love it, and it's handy if they can drink from your cup if you're out and about and have forgotten one. Won't get loads of liquid in at the start, but as you say, he's breastfed, so it's less of an issue...

A cup and straw works well - I have some with a lid that the straw goes through, so not very messy but the cup just has to be grabbed with both hands. DS got the idea of straws by me putting my finger over the end and then dribbling it into his mouth.
Or a sports cap bottle - DS likes that too.
