is your dc breastfed? if so, look to get some vitamin drops like this, as is recommended by the nhs (link to info here). you shouldn't give vitamins if your dc is formula fed.
in regards to food, the start for life website has loads of ideas

all the best x

Hi, my DD is just 7 months, finger food wise she has cucumber, pasta, carrot, biscuits, Ella kitchen puffs, broccoli, apple, banana- just to name a few. Anything (within reason, ie salt and sugar) that my 4 year old has she has too.
At nursery they pretty much feed her as the other children, fish finger sandwiches, couscous, stew, chilli con carne etc.
‘The smaller things they fed her and the rest she eats with her hands.

We don’t tend to purée to be honest, I’ve got some Ella kitchen pouches (7 month) as back up that she loves

I don't want to do purée but I panic he will choke. Like really panic he will. He hasn't got any teeth yet either. What fingers food did you all offer at 6 months and do they get on okay with them?

I made broccoli and cauliflower burgers (theres a YouTube recepie) and cous cous bites (again, google). I also did sweet potato slices (baked) with peanut butter on (be mindful of family allergies). Sweetcorn fritters are easy too and you can add peas.

Theres some.brilliant websites and for meals I really rate the Caroline Walker Trust which has a pdf download full of recipes for the first year

Also remember that gagging and coughing is a good sign, its showing that their gag reflex works, there is quite a lot of it at first at babies learn to cope with textures. Absolutely a good time to introduce textures and finger foods now though. Can you look for a basic paediatric aid online course so you will feel more confident if he does choke? St John's ambulance probably have something

Totally get you on the choking fear - I found a few videos that demonstrate the difference between gagging (completely normal reflex) and choking and they really helped me relax. My thought was that they have to learn to eat at some point!

We did a mix of finger foods and mashed foods rather than pureed to get used to lumpier textures. Don't feel like you have to go all in either way.

Mostly we just gave whatever we were having. I think early on my DD enjoyed toast fingers, bite sized pieces of banana, steamed broccoli, bread sticks, pasta, sweetcorn, dry Cheerios, cheese sticks, quartered grapes, thinly sliced meats etc

Mine didn't have teeth until about 10 months either 🤣

My DD doesn’t have teeth but she chews on everything. My DS didn’t get teeth till 13 months so fully expecting her too be the same as she is a dinky thing like him!
She’s literally just 7 months a few days ago so v similar age to yours.
Try the Ella kitchen melts (big long crisps that melt with spit essentially) and see how he gets on.

Deffo get the fear with choking, DD gags sometimes but that’s when she stuffs too much in her little mouth (she’s greedy)

I just give my daughter whatever we are having. I didn't do purées and took a more BLW approach but I do spoon feed things like yoghurt sometimes if we are in a rush and haven't got time to clean the mess
Thats what they do at nursery with her too
She's 9 months now and eats just smaller portions of our meals, when she was first starting out say we were having meat and 2 veg I'd give her a couple of carrot sticks and potato sticks and took it slowly
She did a lot of gagging in the first few weeks, I just let her get on with it reassuring her and she soon got over it, stopped gagging pretty much by 7 months. X
