BLW progress report - 3 weeks in

Started solids and BLW 3 weeks ago. Initially planned to introduce slowly as DS is adopted, but that rapidly went out of the window. He's had loads of different fruit and veg, yoghurt, toast, weetabix, cottage/cream/normal cheese, and even a bit of minty yoghurty chutney and nan bread tonight at an Indian restaurant.

He's not eating that much of it so far, and most is going on the floor, but he's having fun and so are we. Went to a (non-posh!) French restaurant last weekend and it was lovely to sit there with him in a high chair happily picking at French bread crust and veg.

The rest of my baby group think I'm mad (and a complete stranger ran up the other day shrieking "you can't give him that carrot, he's too young") but it seems to make more sense than creating purees of 13 different veg (which are obviously very nutritious) but where the baby can't distinguish the tastes. I have another friend whose son is 2 and will only eat pureed fruit rather than "real" fruit. Also my little darling is WAY too independent to let me spoon feed him anyway.

ON the upside my babysitter thinks I'm a genius and is amazed at how good his self-feeding skills are.

Better than daddy's, if truth be known .

I've nothing to compare this to, but it does strike me as a very hassle-free way of doing this.

Thanks for this report, I am just starting to BLW my ds but I have not been very forthcoming with it as he is a couple of weeks off six months! He has sucked a cucumber, some broccolli, melon and a steamed carrot and I let him have a taste of my mushroom soup the other day which he seemed to like (but it was a homemade one but bought from the deli so I suspect it would have more salt than is good for him so he only had a spoonful in all).

My ds throws most of what I give him on the floor tho so at least I know i'm not the only one!
