Milk and protein together ?? Help!!!!

Probably being a neurotic first time Mum with too much time on my hands but...........

I'm sure I read somewhere that milk inhibits the absorption of protein, or iron, or something like that, and you shouldn't give milk with a protein meal.

I don't want my ds - nearly 7 mths - to cut back on his milk too quickly, so I want to give him 5 oz of formula before his meals, so he fills up a bit on this first. If I give him solids first, he won't touch his milk, and if I separate all his milk and solids, I end up feeding him virtually every 2 hours and I can't get anything done!!!!

I think I read it in the Gina Ford book but I'm not sure - I've never seen it anywhere else.

Can someone clear this up for me?? TIA

I have heard milk inhibits absorbtion of iron...but seeing as they add extra in follow-on milk it can't be that bad.

I didn't worry about it TBH. By the time he needs to be absorbing iron from his solids he won't be having milk with his solids.
