protein?

DS is 10 months old and mainly blw. He eats fruit and veg fine, dairy OK (mainly in the form of yoghurt) and will eat carbs, toast/breadsticks/pasta. He doesn't eat loads but I try not to compare him to other babies. I can't get him to eat any protein however! Does anyone have any ideas? I know there is some protein in yoghurt.

I used to make mini savoury frittata type muffins for my dd - still do I did tuna, salmon with broccoli crushed then grated cheese and chopped up green beans and graduated on to small bits of ham x

My 8 month old loves - hummus, peanut butter, boiled/scrambled eggs, babybels, mince, meatballs/burgers, fish fingers.

Brioche is made with milk (and eggs, I think?). Higher in protein than standard bread (which is usually around 4g per slice).

Protein requirement is 1-1.6g per kg body weight per day. So 50th centile for a 10 month old is 9kg so he'd need around 9-15g protein per day.

When you factor in the protein in other foods (like bread 4g per slice and other foods you wouldn't expect) he'll be getting enough for growth needs, I'm sure. (2.5g in a petit filous, and probably 1g in a portion of potatoes or pasta, another gram or so in any veg eaten and then if you can get any of the suggested Protein foods in too you're winning!)

There's protein in all sorts of foods you wouldn't expect. It's a right pain for those who need to limit it!

The yoghurt he has is Greek yoghurt, just plain. He doesn't seem keen on eggs but I'll try peanut butter or hummus on stuff he already likes. Thank you domesticanarchist that is very helpful, he is on 75th centile but even allowing for that I think he is getting enough. I'll keep offering the meatballs/fish etc but try not to worry so much.

Try red tinned kidney beans washed, then add a cooked carrot and a little red onion and whizz in blender with olive oil, black pepper and some dried herbs (optional) My 9 months loves this on rice crackers Smile this is packed full of protein!
