Feeling obliged to offer food...

Probably daft of me, but I feel like I "owe" dd 3 meals a day. So at breakfast she has a few shreddies or cheerios or whatever's about that day. Lunchtime, she's quite often asleep, so dd1 and I will have finished, but then I will prepare her something - I'm not sure if she cares that I do or not! This evening they've both nodded off before tea, so I've put them both up, and there's a good chance they'll sleep through.

So basically, I think I'm wanting someone to tell me it's OK to miss the odd meal if she prefers to sleep, and I don't need to feel that I've shorthchanged her. She still BFs with as much gusto as ever.

Don't you worry a jot...if she's healthy, sleeping well and BF-ing well you're doing a fantastic job!!! My DD is 10 months (still BF-ing) and misses the occasional meal and I don't worry about it because she has the appetite of two horses and always makes up for it the next day!

DS only ever ate supper & occasionally breakfast until he was 9ish months as he was generally too full with bm for breakfast & slept for hours around lunchtime...he then started having a bit of lunch & breakfast & snacks in between when he had a growth spurt at 10 months, but only for a couple of weeks. It wasnt until he was nearer 12-18 months that he consitsantly had 3 meals a day.

My DS is 8.5 months and still bf on demand (showing no real signs of dropping feeds). I realiably give him breakfast and lunch, but he's often tired and whingy later in the day so only occasionally has food at teatime. I reckon that he's still getting most of what he needs from milk at the moment so it doesn't matter too much.

Ds still skips lunch if he is asleep. He's 14 months. I assume if he was hungry he would wake up, and don't worry about it.

Thanks, I was sure in my head that it was OK, just something was nagging that I was depriving her!

They both nodded off before tea last night, and didn't bother me until 7 this morning. They seem quite happy about it, and their dad and I treated ourselves to an Indian takeaway.
