What meals are good for blw. What works best as fingers foods?

Anything really, the idea is to give family food as it comes and let them have a go at it. So not really just "finger foods". I tend to cut things into batons where possible/if necessary to help with grasping but that's about it.

My 9 month old has things like spag bol, risotto, pasta bake, jacket potatoes, anything on toast, mild curry, noodles, shepherds pie, omelette, savoury pancakes, veg fritters, and so on.

Try and engineer your normal meals around baton shapes. So for example if you like spaghetti with a veg sauce with small cubes of veg maybe have the same meal but cut your veg into finger shapes then roast them and serve with sauce and fusilli. At least at the start anyway, just think about how they're going to pick it up. Also keep an eye on salt content, choking hazards such as whole grapes and also no honey under 1yr old.

Things I have found good for a baby prone to gagging:
Omlette (cheesy, or put some mashed banana in and call it a pancake)
Sweet potato (roasted in foil)
Steamed broccoli/carrot
Pasta (twists are easy to hold, I've also just picked bits out of unsalted lasagne that we were having)
Raspberries

I'm still sticking to soft stuff for safety. At 7 months DD is still only having tiny picky bits, so not worrying too much about 'meals', just giving her parts of what we're having (or planning our meals so there'll be bits she can have. Don't make work for yourself!)
