Between 8 and 10 months. You think they are just never going to get it and then suddenly they do!

My kids are older, and were exclusively breastfed. The advice was to give finger foods at six months and (unsalted) portions of what we were having. This is before BabyLedWeaning became all the rage ;). Advice was milk was main food until a year. I don't know current guidelines.
I just let mine be, and although they started chewing, gnawing, tasting, enjoying, they didn't really eat much until about 7 1/2 months, and it only became substantial at about 9 months. They followed normal growth curves with this. It was all fine, honest!

My DD was unusual but only started eating at 12months, and only started to have appreciable amounts after 18months. Around 2 she started reliably eating and now at 2.5 she eats very well and almost anything.

I have thought a lot about whether I would do BLW again with another child- given the stress and anxiety weaning caused me I think probably not!

About 8-9 months here. Once DD got the hang of it her milk intake fell off a cliff (was BFing, so rather startling) so there was no mistaking why her poo was suddenly so yukky.

Thank you. It had only been a week and I needed a little reassurance.

DS is 7 months and eats the odd mouthful, mainly of things that are easy to pick up!

One week in I think he was mainly smearing stuff round the high chair and looking confused.

8 months. Started at 6 months and barely a thing went in until 8 months, when all of a sudden she started eating. I never thought it would happen! She refused a spoon too, so had no option but to watch my lovingly prepared food get chucked on the floor for two months Grin

I am hoping DS starts to eat more soon! He's 7.5 months and some def goes in (poo evidence) but hasn't really cut down on milk. In fact he's added a night feed in but I suspect that is because he is not eating many solids at all at the moment due to cold/cough/teething. I have no real choice except to baby led wean as he won't consistently take a spoon, and he's actually pretty good at self feeding, but I must admit I'm starting to lose my nerve and get a bit worried as some of his little pals (mostly puree fed) a couple of weeks older have dropped to only 2 milk feeds a day. I'd quite happily have puree fed him but getting them in him would be a challenge! Any of you other ladies feel like this, and any tips to overcome the worry? I'd love if one of my friends with a similar age baby was doing this tbh for some real life chat!

Tbh, I'm slightly the other way...DS is starting to cut down on feeds and I'm a bit 'hmm surely there's more balanced nutrition in breastmilk than in a bit of toast' (I do try to offer him a healthy balanced diet but I think what goes in is whatever's easiest to pick up!)

If he's got a cold, have you tried orange wedges? (Check for pips of course) My DS has been having lots for the vitamin C as he also has a cold ATM. He loves sucking the juice out of them. I've had to start rationing them because I think he'd eat a whole orange in one go if I let him and give himself a tummy ache.

He is over the cold and eating a bit more now. Still not as much as my friends babies but I had a chat to a friend with an older baby who did BLW and she was reassuring. I am a bit of a worrier anyway and think I just need to chill out a little about it. Its not like I can force feed him so will be going at his pace (as with everything...I have an independent stubborn child on my hands I think!(!
