Bumbo chair safe to feed in?

DD1 had the Ikea Antilop high chair but DD2 (6 months next week) doesn't have the trunk control for it yet. I'm planning to do BLW. Is the fact that DD2 needs the support of the Bumbo a sign that she's not ready for weaning at all, or is it ok to give her bits and pieces on the Bumbo tray for a bit until she can manage the Antilop without sliding all over the place? I'm in no rush to start her on solids and don't want to buy another high chair. She's BF. Smile

Have you got the inflatable cushion for the Antilop? We used this with DD from when we started at 6m until 10m. It wedged her in very firmly when blown up fully. I can't imagine it was very different to the bumbo.
I don't know for sure about the bumbo but I know quite a lot of my friends used one to start feeding in.

I used the bumbo for weaning with the first two and didn't use a high chair until the third.

You can buy a clip on tray for the bumbo which is great. Dd used to love chasing toast around the tray, it's quite small so if they are uncoordinated they can push food against the edge to hold it steady as they grab.

I used to wedge an old fleece blanket in the antilop at first as ds was pretty petite and used to struggle with the extra space in the highchair.

We also sometimes used the bumbo on the floor on a plastic sheet.

We've got a different IKEA one and just use a cushion behind the baby. (Wrapped in a pillow case!)
