Please share your best vegan tofu steak recipes with me!

Years ago I found a recipe, that was amazing. It was marinaded for 12 hours plus, tofu cut into large strips, marinaded in soy sauce, ginger, garlic powder or something among other ingredients. Then fried!

I cannot for the life of me find it and wondered if anyone can share any. The only ones I could find left me feeling they were flavourless despite the long marinade time.

This is a marinade I use often. It sounds similar to your remembered one. I use mirin instead of maple syrup. But really any combo of soy, ginger, garlic, something sweet, something acidic, will be a winner!

Oooh watching this with interest as I love tofu steaks and salad. But i do a cheat quick version and I'd rather do it properly.
Squeeze tofu.
Slice tofu into steaks. Bake in oven for 20 minutes on greaseproof paper. (Turning every 5 minutes).
Marinade in a shop bought sauce like reggae reggae, bbq or a realky nice one recently was cranberry and harissa. I usually add some oil to the mix too.
Then fry.

Yes, i always bake my tofu first. It was a game changer. It goes very dried out , i can't abide slimy tofu

I do the same for strips of tofu. We eat them cold as well as hot, good finger food fora buffet table. Even my dedicated meat eaters fight over them.
Actually they love tofu now i bake it first. We had squares in our stir fry last night and we have to count out the pieces as no one is willing to be short changed on the tofu. Grin they csn all be found after scavenging the leftovers in the wok for a magical extra piece. Never thought I'd see the day
