Is there anyone here from Norfolk?

Because I would just like to say that I have just come back from a two week holiday in Norfolk and found the local people to be some of the nicest and friendliest I have ever met

Nothing was too much trouble in shops/cafes/pubs/restaurants and everyone said hello to my children. In two weeks we never met anyone who was miserable or grumpy. And this was all over the region and in Norwich as well.

Now it might have had something to do with the sunshine as we had a gorgeous two weeks, but I got the feeling that this is just the way it is round those parts.

Would heartily recommend Norfolk as a travel destination and am already planning our return break there next year.

Well Done Norfolk

Are you joking? Sorry, I am just genuinely surprised, I live in Norwich and having lived here for 9 years I find people very hostile.

On the other hand have just spent 2 glorious weeks in Scotland where everyone did speak to my children.

I am actually in shock, my dh will shake his head in disbelief when he comes home

I may be on a downer about it - sorry but there is nothing to do here if you don't get the weather.

Ah well Fimbo, maybe we were just lucky with the weather (it was pretty glorious for most of our two weeks there) and it was that that made people cheery? I was surprised actually as I've encountered a certain amount ot rudeness from people living and working in tourist hot spots before, like they have forgotten that the tourists are their reason for being able to live and work there!

Glad you had a good time Daisy. I lived the first half of my life in Norwich, and love going back. I'd say that on the whole people are friendly there, though you will of course always get some grumpy buggers!

LackaDaisycal, We too have just returned from two weeks in Norfolk and had a wonderful time. Soooo glad that we didn't book Cornwall after last years washout, whilst we were enjoying the sun I was getting texts from my sister down in Cornwall and it was raining there again this year.

Everyone we met was really helpful and polite but then the sunshine makes everyone happier doesn't it.

I live in Norwich (although originally from Suffolk), and we love living here - beautiful city, lovely countryside and (mostly) stunning coastline. Glad you had such a good time! We've got a week off in a couple of weeks' time, and are planning a 'staycation' or whatever the word is (admittedly because funds won't allow anything else!).

I was born in Norwich and now live in West Norfolk and i love it

My village is very friendly ust today we had a spontaneous visit from a teaching assistant from dd1's class who thought my dd's might like a bin bag full of dolls that her dd had outgrown

When we visit family in Essex i always get stared at as i talk to everyone in the street

I agree!! Had 2 weeks near Norwich and found everyone very friendly and helpful.
Also chose it after a cornwall wash out last year! Area we went to is supposed to have the lowest rainfall in the country.
