Dh and I are escaping for a couple of child free days and quite like the idea of Brighton or somewhere equally as lively, but haven't got a clue where to stay.
If anyone can recommend somewhere that would be great, please.

Me and DH had the first child free weekend in years a few weeks ago and we went to Brighton. We stayed at the Hotel Seattle at the Brighton Marina and it was georgous. Really white, airy, clean rooms with very friendly staff and right in the middle of the marina so lots of restaurants around. Plus quick taxi ride into the town. Or if you fancy something a bit different, there is a little old fashioned train that runs from the marina to the sea-life centre in the town every 15 minutes and it only costs about £2.70 for a return.
Hope this helps

Yes that's a lovely hotel, but be warned it also overlooks a 24 hour Asda and a load of other rubbish shops. It's quite a hike from the Pier.

This one is nice in town: www.paskins.co.uk/ V nice breakfasts. Also Hotel Du Vin has a good reputation & is v central.

I also have a soft spot for the Grand as DH and I stayed there on our second date, has to be a room with a sea view though (not cheap!).

www.blanchhouse.co.uk/ was our last child-free break. Everything was perfect, and the rooms are all unique.

I wouldn't go to Drakes, as we tried to book there and the staff were very stand-offish, without reason, when we were making enquiries.

Thanks very much for the suggestions, which all look lovely. We did want somewhere fairly near the pier,so maybe the Seattle isn't for us.
Stinkymonkey-we have only ever been to Brighton once(pre kids)and couldn't remember the name of the place where we stayed, but it had the most comfortable bed we've ever slept in.You've now reminded me...it was Paskins.
