Cornwall - St Mawes and St Ives - questions

I need some advice please ! I am going to Cornwall for the first time in July, with 3 year old DD. I am going to be staying for four nights near St Mawes at a family hotel, with a friend and her DC. I then thought that rather than coming back to London I would stay for 2 or 3 days somewhere else in Cornwall. I was thinking of maybe St Ives? Anywhere nice you can recommend for us to stay? (I don't need a cottage, as it's just me and DD, so a hotel or B&B)

thanks !

bump !

If you can suggest anywhere other than St Ives, that would be good too...

We're off to Perranporth in July.

It's got the most fabulous beach (3 miles), rockpools to dabble in, and a stream that runs down the beach to the sea. I can't wait!

It's also not far from Newquay which is also good.

I've only been to St.Ives in the pouring rain which does rather colour your opinion of it! Also we had a dreadful meal in a cafe there where the fish dinner was actually served up frozen! Hot on the outside and chilly within.

Enjoy your holiday.

Oh, and we went to St.Ives in the January, so perhaps I didn't get the best impression, it being very cold, dark and wet.

St Just is nice. Right down near Lands End and Caper Cornwall. Fowey is beautiful and further north so on the way home.
