I go next Monday for a cheap offer midweek break, we've not been before & are going as we have just had to cancel our ski holiday & wanted to still do something to make a fuss of ds who's 4 before the new baby arrives. (I've already been in prem labour last week so guessing he could come anytime, but hopefully not until April. The docs have cleared me to go here, as long as I don't do more than a gentle stroll/float in the pool).

I was just seeking advice of what is best to do once there, dh has pre-booked ds into a few activities, other than that I think we're going to see once we're there.
I think we're staying in Fell View (?), anybody stayed in these?
Also, is there a supermarket close by, thinking of picking up some groceries on the way in, don't want to be eating out all the time..

Thanks

Hi we stayed at Fell View in Sept for my Dad's 60th.

We had really crap weather (it poured with rain almost constantly) so that put a damper on the holiday so hope you have better weather.

Fell view is quite a way from the swimming pool area, we hired bikes and it was great - I loved cycling with DS (3) and my neice (2) in the trailer.

We didn;t book the children into any activities as the only one we wanted was already fully booked (the two day swimming lessons) my sister and I did the tree top walk which was a real challenge but once I'd done it I enjoyed it!

The children enjoyed the seeing the ducks on the lake and the playparks.

Not sure abouot supermarkets close by but was surprised that the prices in the on site supermarket weren;t as high as I was expecting so we got some food there and had a takeaway one night.

Hope you have a lovely holiday.

Hi. We did a big family trip to Whinfell last November & my sister & BIL stayed in Fell view. Their lodge looked like it had been recently done up & was nice and spacious. They had to take their own soap, towels etc but the kitchen was well equiped. We're going back with them in March and have booked to share a 4-bed lodge in Fell View again as it seemed much better value than the executive lodges. Depending where you are it can be a bit of a trek back up hill from the pool complex - I think the lower the number the closer you'll be IIRC.

There's a big supermarket in Penrith but we usually stock up and load the car before leaving. We've generally spent most time in the pool or doing the cheap activities like treasure hunts etc.

Hi, I was in whinfell last week, they do have a supermarket but we did a big shop at Tesco on the way there, get some sausages, eggs, a few ready meals pizzas and you are all set. The swimming pool is fab, we spent most of our time there. There's also an adventure park (free again). Have fun!
