We're going to Jura

Tomorrow! I posted on Scotsnet and got one lovely reply but would love to hear more. We're going on days trips to Islay and Colonsay, and climbing the paps, but what else can we do? We're staying in Craighouse.

Taking an lft before we go in case you think we're horrible irresponsible people.
Thanks

How lovely! In the mists of time we have family links to Colonsay and would love to go but have not yet had the chance. Enjoy your trip. Get some of the Colonsay gin, it’s very good.

Why would anyone think that?
Most of Scotland is open for tourism (within reason obviously) has been for a few weeks now. You live in Edinburgh (if I’m not mistaken), so it’s not like you’re coming in from abroad or during lockdowns.

Thank you Dot. I far prefer gin to whiskey.

Felicity, I guess I feel guilty about going as well as excited. Maybe I'm being ridiculous though.

Maybe a wee bit. Hope you enjoy and the weather picks up a bit.

It's a bit quiet on Jura, there's a pub and you can trek out to see the corriveckan (? Spelling) whirlpool and also George Orwells House, but that's about it really.
There are a lot of deer around.
There's a distillery, but many more on Islay.
Take a book, a camera, waterproofs and a few board games or watercolour paints and you'll be reet.

If you’re lucky you’ll see golden eagles or the otters. The Corryvreckan whirlpool is worth a trip out on the boat to see too. Take plenty to do, I normally take a pile of books and just chill and enjoy the beauty of Jura.

Thank you all. It was beautiful but very boggy (may have almost lost a trainer in a big.) Lots of deer too.

Didn't see Barnhill or Coryvreckan but maybe next time. Loved the trip to Colonsay and racing across beach to Orobsay to beat the tide. Liked Islay less but it rained all day.

Just on way home via Oban and it's beautiful.

Sounds wonderful. I camped across the water a couple of years ago at Port Ban near Tarbert and looked out to Jura and Islay. It was spectacular.
