Looking for a quirky boutique hotel in the North West

Parents have agreed to take DCs for one night in the school holidays - woo hoo!

Looking for recommendations for a really cool, quirky boutique hotel we can go for one night.

We live in Manchester but don't want to stay in Manchester as we want to go somewhere else for a change, but nowhere more than about an hour's drive (or an hour and a half at a push) from Manchester.

Budget up to £100 for the room so nothing terribly expensive

Ideally looking for somewhere cool and quirky with plenty of character.

Give me your recommendations please!

It's at the very limit of your search radius, but I think you might like The Sidings Hotel near York. Each room is a converted railway carriage.

Have a look at the alister sawday website. I’ve found lots of really cool places there

I'd head to Oddfellows in Chester - it might be a bit more than £100 but it's lovely. Right in the centre of Chester so greet for meals, evening drinks and shops. The Hotel bar area and gardens are lovely too.

If you like The Beatles, the Hard Day’s Night in Liverpool is fun.

If you fancy Cumbria then the House at Temple Sowerby is lovely - great food and very reasonable www.templesowerby.com/
