Whitby Accommodation recommendations please

Hi we are going to Whitby for the first time in July this year. We have had friends move up that way so will combine it with a visit to them. I just wondered if anyone could recommend anywhere to stay?

We are a family of six. I have four children. Ds1 13, DS2 12, DS3 5 and DS4 2. I would quite like a self catering house with a bit of garden space for the children to run around. Also being near the centre is quite important we will be driving a couple of times to see our friends and I'd rather not have to keep driving into Whitby as well. Also parking is something to consider as we have a big old galaxy. Thank you.

Parking can be difficult in Whitby. Some accommodation comes with a permit, but that may only give you evening and overnight parking. If you can find something with its own parking, that would make life easier.

If you want to be near the centre, you might want to avoid the properties overlooking the estuary as that's a bit of trek into town. West cliff is the newer side of Whitby (still some old properties but fewer) and East cliff is the older side with the yards and the Abbey.

Ingrid Flute and Shoreline Cottages both have lots of properties to choose from. Unfortunately we've only stayed in smaller accommodation so can't give specific property details but hope that info is useful

Pleasure. Meant to say that we have also rented via Owners Direct and HolidayLettings. Do look at location of any accommodation on a map as Ruswarp and Sleights seem to come up when you search for Whitby, and you'd definitely need a car to get into town then!

We stayed at the youth hostel in Whitby with dc. The yh is in a great location next to the abbey and there’s lots of space for running around. From Whitby, we then went to the youth hostel at Boggle Hill which was magical for the kids.
