Tips for CP Longleat

Anyone got any tips or nuggets of wisdom for Longleat? I have been before but when dd2 was only 12 weeks so I was pretty much lodge bound. We're going tomorrow, 3 adults, 2 kids. I've booked tables for two dinners, and pony riding and cupcake decorating for the kids. Is there a time to avoid the pool for example? Evening entertainment worth going to?

There's no evening entertainment.
We like to go to the pool when it opens but evening is also nice.
Yes booking activities in advance is key.
The spa is fantastic one of the best I've been to, don't miss that.

It's quite hilly in places so be prepared to push your bikes unless you're super fit!

Not doing bikes, we'll be walking Smile

Look up the activity timetable and book the ones you want in advance. We found there were just a couple of options for specific ones we liked and we couldn't get in at the last minute so had to skip them.

I book mine 6 months before. For the widest choice

How old are the children? Magic night at the pancake house was always a hit with DS when he was little. He now enjoys family quiz night. Would definitely have to book for magic night.

Pancake house is always busy as very popular with children so get there early.

Don't do craft activity which involves glitter on your last day Smile

Pack your swimming stuff separately so if you get there too early to go to your villa you can still go to the pool.

The pancakes at the magic night are a buffet and are vile

The pool is really quiet at 2.30/3pm on change-over days. Everyone is either leaving or checking in to their villas.

The pancakes might be vile but children love the magic show. Mind now DS is older we haven't been to the magic show for quite a few years, and we can never be bothered to queue there for lunch either!

Are the pancakes always minging or just at the show?!

They are building new pool area for toddlers at Longleat, don't know if that is ready now, wasn't in Easter when we went, They were also building a new slide/flume but your older child might still be too young for that.

Junior fencing was always a hit with DS. Also likes the juniors Segways, not sure what the minimum age is for them.

Bowling and crazy golf is also popular.

When he was quite small the teddy bears' picnic was a hit. Good for your 3 year old
