Looking to book a cottage next year, would like nice village/town on the sea but the cottage needs to be literally on the sea, over the road type place and flat.

Where are you looking? There are a number in Tywyn, Wales. We've been going for the last few years. Lovely, quiet little town, ideal for families.
If you're interested, try the Lounge Lettings website. Those right on the sea are not cottages as such but houses and apartments.

Oh, and Broad Haven, Pembrokeshire, has some too. Only been once but it was lovely, like Cornwall without the crowds. Try the Stay in the Havens agency.

These do have a slope up to them which is short and the ones nearer the beach obviously have less of a walk (not that any are far) but if there are wheelchairs hired out for the beach that maybe able to use if anyone needs them. They are off road ones for the sand.

Recommend Torcross in Devon. There are several cottages right on the seafront and lots more around the village which is flat and accessible with shop, pub and cafes. Lovely area too.

I agree that Broad Haven is worth a look - it's really flat, moderately priced, and there are apartments available right across the road from the beach.

You can get holiday houses right on sea front, or one block back in Spittal, Berwick on Tweed.
