I've been offered the chance of a holiday let at mate rate for a month in Monkseaton, Whitley Bay. The let looks nice, but I notice that there is a very big estate next to it and I was wondering if is a nice area or not. Does anyone happen to live in this area who can let me know what it is like?

Monkseaton is a residentialmare, with some nice small shops. Whitley Bay, Tynemouth and the coast are very close by. There is a metro which will getbyou ll iver the are, into Newcastle etc.,

Not what i would have thought of as a holiday resort, but very handily based for lots of excursions.

If you have a car there are hundreds of brilliant days out in the area!

Whitley bay is pretty naff tbh. Tynemouth in thr other hand is beautiful, fab beach, lovely shop's bars and restaurants. Whitley bay used to be very popular with stag and hen dos but most of the hideous bars have now closed. In Monkseaton you'll be on the metro line so very easy access to newcastle city centre and Tynemouth is 2 or 3 stops away.

Tynemouth and Cullercoats both lovely. Monkseaton is an Easy metro ride into the centre of Newcastle, which has tons to do, esp if it rains. North and South Shields also have nice bits. Go for it.

Thanks. That helps a lot. We'll look at the areas suggested.

Whereabouts in Monkseaton?

Although to be honest even the worst bit isn't too bad.

Good base, hope you have a great break
