We are thinking of going island hopping, and camping with our dog and dd 6 and ds10. Do you have any tips on where to camp, eat things to do in Arran? I'm very open to any other island ideas suggestions.thx

Arran is lovely and there is loads to do there with a family.

I am afraid I don't know anything about camping as we rented a house.

If you like walking there are plenty of opportunities.

Cycle hire is another possibility. When we went we hired bikes in Lochranza and then took them on the little ferry that goes across to the Kintyre peninsula. From there it was an easy cycle ride (and we are not keen cyclists so I do mean easy) to Skipness Castle where there is a fantastic sea food cabin.

Another fun thing was to take the little boat from Lamlash to Holy Island. From there you can walk over the two hills in the middle and/or round the coast line.

There are also some lovely beaches. Our favourite was Kildonan where there were dozens and dozens of seals basking on the rocks. We even saw a sea otter! And for the most of the time we had the beach more or less to ourselves, even in the summer.

Pony trekking? DD and I had a go at that, though we are not riders. No experience needed and ponies to suit all ages and sizes.
