Best accommodation in Isle of Wight? Holiday camp?

Thinking of heading to the Isle of Wight in the summer holidays. We don't have a car (neither of us drive). DCs are 4 and 7. Thinking about staying in a holiday camp? Anyone done this and can recommend one? What are the best areas of the island if you are car-free? Also anyone know what the sunniest week of the summer holidays will be?! Grin

There is a train service called Island Line. That might be useful for you. All of the towns are nice.

White cliff Bay and Nodes point are very popular parks. Both near to Sandown which is a busy seaside town.

There are loads of others though. Check out Isle of Wight guru. He has a good blog.

Lower Hyde is near Shanklin. I think it is a Park Resort. It is not on the immediate beach like others mentioned, but it is walking distance of Shanklin station. From there you can easily get to Ryde bus station and beyond. I also recommend it as if you get the Fast Cat into Ryde it is just a train journey to the holiday park.

Not sure about camps, but we usually go as soon as the DCs break up in July as that's when the best weather seems to be, we live in Hampshire not too far away and it always seems to start heading into autumn from the start of August.

Agree, we're normally camping towards the end of August and we've had a ground frost before now. July does seem to be a better bet but doesn't work for us because of other commitments.
