Fucked up my holiday

Sad

Booked a 7 day holiday for me, my sis and our kids for end Aug at Park Resorts, Yarmouth. We have previously used Tesco Boost vouchers to pay part of the cost.

I phone to pay the balance today only to find the vouchers are now only for caravan ownership not holidays. It's quite clear, I just didn't read it properly when I order my Tesco vouchers.

We can't afford to pay the full cost w/o the vouchers. I am hoping the cancellation fee isn't too much. Trying to find an alternative holiday where we can use the vouchers, but obviously there's not much available now and what is left cost all my arms and legs.

Sad Sad

Does anyone have any ideas as to what we could do to salvage our week away. I wasn't asking for much - just a week with my sis after a pretty crappy year so far.

There's a site called Breakfree which does some cheaper caravan holidays, keep checking and see what you can find, or look on Facebook as people often let their caravans privately through there and might have some availability nearer the time.

Yes, look on FB or cards on shop notice boards for privately owned caravans.

There are some quite cheap chalet parks in Gt Yarmouth too.

Thank you. I am currently looking at Park Resorts in Scotland for the same week. Why is Scotland so much cheaper eyes midges with suspicion ?
Though the travel (from the South and East Anglia) needs to be factored in.

At least I have not actually lost anything more than our £30 deposit.

Tesco vouchers can be used for Cottages 4 You if that helps. It is a set amount that you can pay with them.

Scotland may be cheaper because most Scottish hols end mid August. Good news that cancellation fee is low - did you try throwing yourself at their mercy to see if they'd maybe do a deal with you.

That cancellation charge was pretty reasonable. Pleased you can now move on.

What's your budget and requirements?

Yes, I am a bit more calm now, it was just so horrible to be told my vouchers weren't valid when I was all excited about paying the balance.

Our budget is £500 for 7 nights.
We are 2 adults and 5 children ranging from 16-6. We need 3 rooms at least (me and sis, 2 boys, 3 girls - they can squish in a double bed!).

Self-catering.

Can't really add a massive travel budget onto that - certainly not flights and probably not train.

rookie They were actually very nice about it and it was entirely my mistake.

Whereabouts is the park resort in Scotland and what dates - if its after scottish holidays you might have a good choice up here.

You might find you won't be allowed the 3 squished children into a 6 berth as they need occupancy names (for fire and insurance as much as anything). Sometimes under certain ages don't count as they are in cots, in that case you might get away with a 6 berth +infant.

or go for a 6-8 berth. That would be OK too - the extra 2 are likely to be in the lounge but once in the place then you can squish the 3 into a double room if you wanted and all 7 of you could have bedrooms then.

Here's some in Norfolk which are in your budget. Hoseasons are good to book with. You can put area, number of beds and date in and it shows you where's availabe and for what price.

We will declare all people, but we'd rather not use the lounge to sleep in, hence 3 girls together.

Don't go to summerfields! It's awful. this one is next door and much nicer. Not checked the prices though.
