DH and I want to go away September time in the UK. I was wondering if anyone could recommend websites for holiday cottages or have any the you've been to personally that you would recommend? I've tried Cottages4you but not found anything. It would be me, DH and 1 house trained dog.

We don't mind where, the lake district is as far north we'd like to go and we live in South East Kent. We have a car and would like somewhere preferably with decent walking routes. DH would also like a hot tub not that -he's fussy or anything--. In the meantime i'll carry on googling, but if anyone has any personal recommendations i'd love to have a look. Grin

Can't link as iPhone. But if you are considering Cornwall try Stoneleigh Knowle Farm. No hot tub, but lovely run by a friend and 75 acres to walk the dog in. Listed on owners direct.

Have a Google for Bishops Quay, right on the Helford River in Cornwall. Beautiful, it's right on the estuary and I think they have a little boat you can potter around in. They also run their commercial fishing boat from there, so plenty of fresh fish available!

You could also have a look at Trecombe Lakes Holiday Pods- I went to visit them today, they're just starting up and look like they're going to be pretty special. They're building a massive adventure playground on site, so even better for people with kids....

Try looking on Owners Direct website. Plenty of choice. We've used it many times and never been disappointed.

If you are thinking of Cornwall, can recommend the south west coastal path for walks - stunning !

We've used these a few times, and found them slightly cheaper than the big nationwide cottage companies. www.norfolkcottages.co.uk/. Have had some lovely cottages from them.

Had a very quick search and this one is close to the Peak District, welcomes dogs and has a hot tub!

Have a look at the dog sites like petswelcome or dogfriendly and you should find something on there. we stay here and they take dogs (I think). SE Cornwall is easiest bit of cornwall to get to straight down the A38 about an hour from Exeter if you are coming on the motorway. would suggest you try dog friendly sites first then you know that wherever you find will definitely take your dog.

Not a budget option. It has a private indoor pool, sauna and jacuzzi. Pets allowed. Acres to walk in. We've been in the past with our dogs and the back garden was well fenced.

Its slightly tired in a furnishing sense but a lovely location with lots of wildlife to look out at.

around £1000

We always use the Home Away site, it lets you search for pet friendly rentals.

I have booked lots of cottages via this independent site. You can do the search with lots of filters such as dog-friendly, near a pub, hot tub etc.
