Recommendations for girls weekend in London

Every year a group of us (old school friends) meet up for a weekend of drinking and shopping. It has fallen to me to organise it this time round and London is the chosen venue. But I really don't know what to go for. Has anyone got any suggestions, we quite like hotels with a pool/gym but they all look a bit impersonal the ones I've found. A self catering apartment could be good, but again I haven't had any joy searching for this either. So if anyone knows of a great place for 6 of us to stay in London that isn't too pricey or too far out of central London could you please give me some ideas. (I've been trying to find something for months!)

When we went as a girly group we didn't need the gym etc because there was so much to do.

We are staying this time (as a family) at Novotel Tower Bridge. Great value. Good reviews on trip advisor. Not too far out. Free brekky under our deal. There is a small health area too, if you still want it.

As a girly group we have stayed at the Devere Cavendish, which I loved but it is too pricey for our famly because the rooms don't take 4.

We have used roomfor5.co.uk which specialises in larger hotel rooms for bigger families, suites and also self catering. to be honest if you are staying in London then you will pay an absolute premium for a pool etc. Why not have a city break with just a well placed hotel central to all the things that you can do or go to somewhere out of London to a spa hotel where you will get a really good pool, beauty treatments etc. Its almost impossible to find what you are looking for at the moment unless you compromise. You said it yourself - you have been looking for months that's cos it aint out there! Why not treat yourselves to a day at the Sanctuary and just stay in a Travelodge!

The Gore Hotel in Kensington is gorgeous and would be perfect for a girls weekend. No pool but roll-top baths and fabulous breakfasts :)

I recently stayed at Citadines Trafalgar Square, they are self catering apartments. They were great, no pool though but great location.
If you like comedy I would recommend a night at Tattershall Castle, the boat which is permanently docked on the Thames. It's a stones throw from the Citadines. They have a comedy show at 8pm, then after this it becomes a club with great music and a good mix of people and ages. We went last month and had a fantastic time.

Great, thanks for these ideas I will check them out. I think mummymeister is right, we will have to compromise.

Was just going to say the same as mummymeister! Have just stayed for the night at the Travelodge Covent garden, which is basic but clean and very central. Then you are all of 5mins walk from The Sanctuary in Covent garden which is a great day spa, and you have all the Covent garden shopping and bars etc. My top tip would be not to pay for breakfast at the Travelodge as place is surrounded by cafes doing cooked breakfasts much cheaper. And have dinner at Sarastros on Drury Lane for an amazing experience!
