Does anyone know of some lovely hotels in and around chester? We are planning a joint 60th birthday long weekend at the end of july beg of aug for my inlaws. there will be 6 adults and my 3 dc (11,8,7) and am looking for something really nice with some gardens etc.
have idylic idea in my head that we will all have amazing time strolling the gardens in the sunhine and enjoying dinner all together, then a nice dip in the hotel pool Grin.
Alternative is that we need gardens to hide from each other, lots of Wine and the pool to exhaust the kids!
cheers

Rowton Hall, has pool and gardens.
Nunsmere is nice but staff can be a bit uppity, as if they are doing you a favour by being there.
Grosvenor is lovely but I wouldn't recommend it with kids.
There's also the Mollington bannaster although it's a while since I've been, and The Double tree, haven't been there but have heard great things about the food.

Peckforton Castle is about 25 mins drive from Chester. Has no pool but beautiful grounds with birds of prey outside the main door (tied up!) and peacocks. Staff are lovely and were great with DS. They can organise activites eg falconry, archery, offroading if you like.

The former Hoole Hall is fab if you want to be near to Chester. It has a pool and grounds with a spa for you! The food is great.

Not the Mollington Banaster. Has gone really ropey recently. Tatty.

Would agree with Doubletree Hilton/Hoole Hall as is very nice, Rowton Hall too. Perhaps Grosvenor Hotel in Pulford too - about 10 minutes outside Chester. Queens Hotel on City Road nice as well.

I live in Chester BTW

Having driven past the Mollington yesterday I would have to retract my recommendation, it is looking awful.
