Hi,
Has anyone used an online tuition service for their kids?
Are there any you'd recommend?
TIA

My 10 year old son has been having online tutoring for Mandarin, for over 3 years now.

I don’t believe it is as effective for him as having someone physically there, but because it is online it is so much more convenient and so few lessons get cancelled. IE lessons still continue when we and or the tutor are on vacation. Occasionally lessons have been conducted when we were in the car.

As the teacher is a Chinese national based in China it is relatively cheap as well. Because of time differences we are somewhat limited what time of day classes can be conducted.

Overall, I am very happy with this being on-line, rather than face to face.

Hi Sazz

I use this site:

www.mandarinchineseschool.com

There are lots of chinese based sites that offer online mandarin tuition these days. Here is one that has had a high profile recently:

Tutorming.com

I only have experience with mandarinchineseschool.

Hi - I have tried to start collating free resources on my twitter account and will add to it over the coming days and weeks to help any parents or teachers in need. I am a science specialist but will try to share resources that cover all subjects and age groups: twitter.com/i_teach_science

Additionally, if you are supporting your child with home learning and get stuck at any point, a great colleague of mine has set up a Facebook group where teachers are on hand to help you out at any point: www.facebook.com/groups/491075171566673/

If anyone was looking for a video tutor for science during the school closures I would love to start tutoring via Skype. I am a Head of Science in a Prep School with 8 years teaching experience + BA Hons (1st Class) reading Biological Sciences and Education Studies from Cambridge University. Happy to provide high quality tutoring, for example 11+ science common entrance preparation. Please just get in touch :)

Hope this helps!

I'm SI, retired and somewhat bored...anyone like their child to be tutored online by a very experienced and highly regarded teacher (prep and senior), in French, Latin, Japanese or Classical Civilisation? Free to a good home...just give me something to do!

We are also collating free resources as below, updating them frequently.
