Is three year old too old for ELC Happyland stuff (3rd birthday present) ?

I can't decide whether to get a Playmobil Campervan or leave that for next year? Would Happyland be more suitable for now, or do you reckon it's too young for her already?

End of November birthday so with Christmas, her presents get 'bunched up' and no excuse to buy later in the year.

Think 3 is a really good age for happyland, sturdy enough for the enthusiastic play they still do at that age and varied enough for all sorts of scenarios

I don't think 3 is too old. Happyland stuff is lovely and perfect for imaginative play. My 3yo loves the toys he 'inherited' from his big brothers and they all end up playing with it once it's out. (But don't tell ds1's mates!!)

Playmobil, with its tiny pieces might be a bit tricky and frustrating for a just three year old. I would go for happyland, good for toddlers but older children love it too.

When I taught nursery Happyland was always a really popular small world with the 3 and 4 year olds.

Brilliant! Really helpful. I will leave Playmobil and stick with Happyland for now.

Thank you so much, everyone!

My nearly 4 yr old still plays with her happy land stuff. It's the most played with actually.

How about sylvanian families for more longevity? You can sometimes get good deals on it although not as cheap as happyland. Would last much longer though

Happy land or playmobil one two three. Real playmobil I would leave until age five tbh.

My dd is nearly six and she still plays with her younger siblings happyland.

I wouldn't recommend Sylvanian Families for a 3 yo the pieces are small and easy to break.

Happy land is perfect for a three year old.

Playmobil at 4yo

Sylvanian Families at 5 yo.

My daughter loved happy land until at least 5. Even now, nearly 9, she won't let me get rid of it and will still get it all out and we'll make up stories.

My 4.5 yr old still plays with her Happyland bus and cottage - they're really popular. I've been trying to convince her she's too old for more HL stuff but if it was up to her she'd have the farm and pirate ship too.

Playmobil 123 would be good, as it's more chunky and less fiddly than the mainstream Playmobil, but reasonably compatible if she gets some of that when she's older.
