Fire engine

Just wondering if anyone can recommend a large, sturdy fire engine for a 3 year old.

We have a small fireman Sam one that belongs to older ds, he has had since Christmas 2011. Younger ds loves it way more than older ds but it isn't his toy so I'm looking for a larger sturdier one for younger ds third birthday.

Thanks for any recommendations, I've looked at a few but I've no idea what to buy. :)

I bought this <a class="break-all" href="//www.amazon.co.uk/Pintoy-60-03527-Wooden-Fire-Engine/dp/B00009R64L/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1361055297&sr=8-1&tag=mumsnet&ascsubtag=mnforum-21" rel="nofollow noindex" target="_blank">Pintoy one for dds Christmas.

I have pretty mixed feelings about it, really. It is large. And sturdy. It opens up well and has interesting hoses. But I don't understand how the ladder is meant to extend. And the associated firemen are pretty unmanageable.
