Riding holiday for teenager

Not sure if I should post here or the travel section but I thought you have maybe more knowledge:

DD is 12 and had been to two riding holidays in Germany (to practice her second language, spend a week with horses and allow us a childfree week).

She wants to go again but as it is quite difficult to get her and all gear over we can't do the German camp next year.

So has anyone been or send a child to a residential camp in England? we live in SE London/Kent border and happy to travel within reason.

She is confident in walk/trot, still has to improve in canter and started low jumps recently.

Have a look at Wellington Riding in Hampshire - they do week long residential Pony Course camps and cater for all abilities/ages. They get booked up very quickly though.

Definitely Wellington - dd went there every summer from when she was 10 to when she was 14 and absolutely loved it. Easy to get to from London, fantastic facilities, lovely ponies and great instructors. Riding twice a day for a week meant she made big improvements, especially when she was more of a beginner - thoroughly recommended!

Thanks,I looked them up, it looks very good. I like that they also cover Easter as Summer holiday will be tight time wise anyway.

A lot more expensive it then we save on travel costs. Will check when they open bookings for next year and see what DD thinks.

They get booked up as soon as they advertise so you need to be quick!

I used to be a working pupil there when they first started doing the courses. (Pre 1990!) We had a fab time! And so did the children! Grin

Most of the children dd met there came back year after year (as did she), which I think is a good sign Smile

Bewerley riding centre, near Pateley Bridge in North Yorkshire (north west of Harrogate). Sent my daughter there for a week as a novice on lead rein and by the end of the week was cantering confidently.

Wheel Buller Cornish Riding Holidays, DD had the best experience this summer and is begging to go back next year even though she is a pony owner and active PC member . Beach riding and swimming ponies in a lake are just a few of the activities on offer.
