Pony Saddles

Has anyone any experience of Wintec, Bates or Thorowgood T4 saddles or can recommend any other brands to look at. Will be getting it fitted by a pro but would like to know if any are particularly better than the others. It's for an 11.2 welsh to be used by DD's 5 and 7.

I've got a wintec which is lovely. But would be happy with any you have mentioned. Would take your saddle fitter's advice.

Bates and Wintec use the same tree, T4's are good and quite cheap but it depends which tree shape suits the pony best. (I've had all 3 and currently have a Bates Cair 16" Dressage for a 13.2).

All our smaller ponies had Fylde saddles which are designed for smaller ponies and can be altered to fit.

When we moved on to 12.2s we moved to Black Country Saddles and still have them on our 14 handers. They are excellent.

I have a thoroughgood pony saddle for my 13.2. It's flatter across the tree and seat as ponies tend to be flat with less withers. Very comfy and actually fits unlike all the others we tried

Try the saddle company. Adjustable and great- I have 4!

Saddle company can be custom made, my friend has one for her finely built, thoroughbred racing pony.

Our 13.1 Welsh B, with a flat back, had a Kent and Masters, they have an adjustable gullet so sell for as much as you pay almost. Ours was £450, and has just been reflocked now it's bedded if after a few months. Lovely saddle.
