Although we weren't looking, I think we have found our DD her first pony!! He is a 14.2 pure bred connemara. He is 6 years old and loves his hugs!! He is gorgeous. We just need to ride him to check suitability, but as he is where my daughter rides we know he loads well, no probs with shoeing, vets and getting in from field etc. He is BSJA regiestered and can jump well, but will also drop down a level for my daughter. Very excited, almost as much as my daughter!!

We went and saw, groomed, tacked up pony in the stable. My daughter then rode including some jumping and did not have a bad word to say about him, even though he was a lot more forward than she is used to. She is not used to squeezing and sitting still on ponies. She untacked him and put him out in the field, so it all looks good so far. We are going back on friday for another ride and with her Dad watching, even though he knows nothing about ponies at all but I'm sure he will have something to say!!!

Connies have a lovely temperament. Lucky DD/you.

Sounds promising, it's very important to have Dad on side, you may need him as assistant groom!

That sounds like a plan frostyfingers, especially in the winter although from what I've told him he seems quite keen anyway!!!

How exciting!
Can you keep him at home or can you get livery where he already is?
Am very Envy!

Hope it all goes well on the second viewing! If you possibly can take your instructor with you to advise on suitability, 6 is a tad young and would need a more experienced rider.

If we get him he will be staying on the yard that he's on. The yard is a riding school as well as livery yard and my daughter has started having her lessons there about a month ago so they know her level of riding. He is a very placid pony and can step up a gear as he is currently BSJA regiestered, and down a gear for a less experienced rider. Fingers crossed for friday. We also have a friend who has her pony there and my daughter has made friends with all the girls who help out on the yard. I'll keep you all up to date with what happens on Friday!!!!

My daughter had her second ride on the pony but before that was asked if she would like to have a go at clear round in the show they have every fortnight. She couldn't wait and she did very well, then on the Friday we went back for her to ride again with Dad watching as well. Dad seemed suitably impressed and my daughter couldn't stop smiling. We had a chat when we got back and have decided to go ahead and buy him. We told the manager of the yard on Saturday and DD has been down at the stables every day since. Although we won't we paying for him in full until October which is absolutely fine with the owner, as long as she gets a decent deposit which she is getting on Monday and she knows he is going to a good home which he is as he is staying put she is happy. Since we told the stables we wanted him, we we hoping DD could ride him in her lessons, but every day she has been down since then she has been allowed to ride him!!! She has ridden him in the school and also hacked out on him. Things are going better than I could have imagined and my daughter is on cloud nine!!!!
