i'm looking for help to change my swiss centimeters into hands high.

My beloved Friesian has any bad case of summer itch,but his horseware rugs cost an arm and a leg over here.Since i'm coming home to england next week i would like to by his rambo fly rug over there.
so how do i work out ,how big my 163 centimeter gelding is in hands high.
i hope you can understand what i mean. my english has gotten very rusty:)

Assuming swiss centimetres are the same as English ones (they must be mustn't they?), then 10 centimetres equals one hand high.

But if you are buying rugs I don't think you will need to know his height, they will be measured in length, from the middle of his chest to his hindquarters (not quite to his tail, more like where you expect the rug to reach to). They tend to still be measured in feet and inches, going up 3 inches at a time so you have to pick the nearest one. (I hope I'm making sense hereSmile). I think if you are coming over then the simplest thing would be to measure him and then ask in the shop for the right size.

To answer your question your Friesian would be almost exactly 16 hands high. However I agree with Pixel that you need to measure his length not his height when buying rugs.

thank you for your answers,

i have measured his lenght and was able to work out the size in inches ,but could not work out his height.i have written down my measurement and will take them with me when i go shopping.my dh is very wary of letting me loose in a equine shop because it always gets very expensive,but hey i don't buy shoes.:)

Is postage to Swiss-cheese-a-go-go Land prohibitive? Only have picked up very discounted horseware Ireland rugs online, from Irish sites.

4 inches in 1 hand. 1 inch = 2.54 cm.

163cm = 64.17 inches = 16 hh.

At a guess I'd say 6'3" in rugs.
