Job interview in lockdown?

I was shortlisted for a AHT job just before schools closed; last week the HT emailed to ask me to attend an online selection process. I guess that will involve an interview over zoom / Skype but what else?

For an AHT job I would have imagined that the HT will provide you with a schedule (let's hope so! Grin) - Live video link definitely!
Written tasks are set in normal SLT interviews so online submission there. Telephone conversations too.

Thanks @Otherrooms I'm in Scotland - recently moved so not sure if that makes a difference?

On a separate note I've got to interview NQTs for a mainscale teaching job after the Easter holidays. Anyone got any ideas for good tasks to set candidates?

Could you ask them to send you a filmed presentation? To replace the formal lesson observation?

10 min
Aimed at Y8 (for example)
Topic XYZ

This would allow you to see how well they explain a topic/theme what language/style they use verbally. Body language etc...

Is that too much? I'd probably withdraw my application if asked to do this but then again, I'm a wuss!

That's a brilliant idea! Would it be really off putting do you think?! Confused

I had a Skype interview recently for a HoD post. One of the tasks was to write out a lesson plan for an excellent lesson in advance and then talk through it at interview. I got the job so it must’ve gone well!

I don't think so... It's the technology I personally would struggle with- I'm a bit old so not great with that kind of stuff but most people wouldn't find it a problem at all.
Actually talking for 10 mins on camera wouldn't faze me.
You would get to see how naturally a person can explain a topic or concept at a certain level.
Is their manner engaging?
A Y7 presentation would be very different to a Y11 top set presentation.
It could be very useful.

That’s useful info @FashionFoodLaughs - I applied for a HoD position the day before lockdown and they said they’d be in touch after Easter. I’ve been wondering what they might do.
