Australian bushfire fundraiser

Quite a few of our primary children would like to do something to raise money for people/animals affected by the bushfires.

So far, their ideas are pay £1 to 'dress up as a fire' or 'dress up as a koala', neither of which strike me as a good idea...

My only thoughts so far are pay £1 to dress up in Australian colours - any other suggestions?

This so kind. Keep it simple so achievable.

Australian colours are easy and as Australia Day is approaching, this is a good way in and combined with the indigenous flag gives you more colours:

Indigenous: Black/Red/Yellow
Australian: Red/White/Blue

For this occasion, to fend off possible posts, objections about Invasion Day need to be put aside.

Dress up in colours and pick an animal: the advantage here is the animals have the weirdest names, so fun for the kids: bettong, quoll, euro, potoroo, bilby.
