What hours do you do in school??

What time do you arrive and leave on a typical day?

I'm KS1 private school. I usually arrive at 7-7.15, kids do 8.30-3.15 and on a non-meeting day, I aim for a 4.45-5pm leave.

8.15 til 6. State Primary. I can t do early mornings, so I stay late instead.

Rarely take work home though.

I am secondary.

Inactive at about 7.30am and registration starts at 8.30am. Kids finish at 2.30pm and on non-meeting days I generally leave around 4.30pm.

I try to do as much work as I can in school to avoid having to do it at home as I can only work once my son is in bed.

Secondary English 8am - 4.15pm unless there's a meeting. From Sept - May, I work a couple of hours every evening. I work at the weekend too. Usually an afternoon and evening.

When I am marking mocks, it'll be more, and once I have gained time in June/July, I do little at home.

I used to stay in school until 5.30pm, but find I get more done at home.

Maths teacher- in school for 8am, staff meeting at 8:15 and kids in for 8:30. Kids leave at 3:30 and I leave at 3:45pm. I then work 7-9pm at home when DS is in bed.

I have to work round my school runs so:

8.20am - 4.40pm Mon, Tue, Wed
8.20am - 5.15pm Thurs
8.20am - 4pm Fri (just because it's nice to leave earlier)

I can arrange to stay later on ad hoc basis as DS can stay for late prep and dinner at his school if necessary.

7.30am- 5.30pm. Often another few hours at home at least 2-3 days a week.

I like to start at 8 as not that many staff there at that time to be distracted by. I've usually peaked by half 4 but often stay til 5.

Secondary here.
8.15 until 4ish. Leave just after the bell on a Friday.
Do a couple of hours every night once DD in bed and most of Sunday afternoon.
Works for me!

When I was ft primary, I arrived at 8 and left between 5.30-6.
Now I’m supply, arrive as early as I can, leave between 4-5, but I take nothing home.

As to what seems flakey, depends entirely on the culture of your school. And what the SLT decree.

My Head often leaves at 4.30 and goes round trying to shoo people out, saying they should stop and go home, which I find infuriating as I'm always marking flat out at that stage, as per our marking policy, and haven't yet thought about setting up/resourcing the next day. Two days have meetings til 5.

Kids come in at 8.45am and school ends at 3.05pm

I'm nin between 7.15/7.30am - 5pm except Friday when I leave at 3.45pm to take my mum shopping.

I never take work home.

I wish I could get in at 7am to prep but I can only drop DD off at breakfast club at 7.50.
It is hard when you've got young kids, but you just find ways. I mark through lunch most days.

Roughly 7:30-5:45. I try to limit what I bring home to no more than a couple of hours per week. I mostly manage this and some weeks don’t take anything home. I do work a fair bit in the holidays though, usually longer-term planning, mock exam marking and data analyses. I’m a secondary HOD. I’m moving into SLT next year and hope to keep to a similar working pattern.

@leccybill I also have young kids (reception and y3) and it's defo hard but I teach at the same school so logistically it's great. Kids come with me then go to breakfast club followed by co-curricular clubs when I pick them up at the end of the day.

7.30-5.30/6pm Monday to Wed
8.15-4.30 thurs/fri.
I take work home when needed but avoid it by working through breaks/Lunch whenever I can. So work at home maybe averages 2-3 hours a week.

An "acceptable" early I'd say 4pm but school are actually pretty good and I can get an early dart (3.30pm) fairly easily if I double check with the ht.

7:45 to 4:30 but I don’t “take” breaks as such. Work through interval and lunch or do duty or tutorials. I also do an hour or do at home 3 to 4 days a week.
