I am due to email the headteacher tomorrow regarding an incident I witnessed earlier this week. I was in school (i am a parent) and saw a teacher (who is new to the school and does not have a great reputation) dragging a 7 year old girl down the corridor toward the head teachers office. She was walking very fast whilst holding the girl by the wrist and pulling her along behind her, shouting all the way.

I was really shocked and she saw me and didn’t even miss a beat. Carried on.

I spoke briefly to the depute the following day, who said to email the headteacher so it was in writing and that she would respond.

What should I write? What are your views on this incident? Apparently the girl had been wanting a turn on the computer and was being annoying about it being her turn next and she waved to the teacher in a “helllllooooo, it is MY turn next” kind of cheeky manner...

Be completely factual and unemotional in your account. Say what you saw. Be specific. Give as much relevant detail as you can. Don't offer judgement.
Any other witnesses?

Thanks Wolfie. Good point about not being emotional, as I would have been.
No other witnesses as such though I’m sure other teachers would have heard her shouting and she had a TA left in the class that she left behind if that makes sense.

The school will already be aware of the incident as you have reported it, so you just need your account in writing. Write about what you observed clearly and in detail, but there's no need to write about what you didn't see (computer etc) as other people will fill in those details.

You have no right to know the outcome of your report so just finish your email with something like 'Obviously I am very concerned by this incident and would appreciate you investigating'.
