If you go abroad on holiday, when do you go?

A lot of my teacher-friends go away as soon as possible, which I hate! I always collapse with a cold plus usually have done no housework for the last 2 weeks of term. Plus your lovely holiday is done far too quickly.

I like going in the middle 2 weeks.

I usually avoid going in the summer but a couple of years ago went in the first week as we'd broken up a week earlier than most schools. I've been to Iceland a couple of times in February half terms. I've done short breaks at Christmas and also once did the whole Christmas period away in Hong Kong. I've also been away in Easter Holidays and May half terms before.

I quite like a little half-term hop.

How did you find the travelling at Christmas? Were you not just exhausted?

It was fab! Christmas at home is never exactly relaxing, lots of family to see and events to attend. It was nice to go away and just please ourselves. Plus I got to spend Christmas Day at Disneyland, which was awesome. I feel like the warm weather and longer days did me some good too.

Middle of summer holidays. The other holidays are too short. We have done weekends away during term time too.

I like to go early in holidays but not first few days.
Feel better if I've had a couple of days to 'de-school' but not so long to wait that I start wishing the days to my holiday away.
I also like a few days after the holiday to gradually get back into work mode - and to do all the holiday jobs/school work I didn't get done earlier : )

We have to be back for the week before A level results so we do tend to go straightaway- DH is on SLT so he is in for 2 weeks of the holiday anyway- A level and GCSE results weeks, then he will have 3 full days of meetings before term starts at the beginning of September. We finish on the 24th July and he's back in on the 14th August, so we can squeeze 2 (very) expensive weeks in there.

In the summer I like to go right at the start. I could do middle but would hate to do the end.

Half terms and the other breaks we go away in too and don't mind going straight back to work, but hate it in the summe.

We've been away this half term and going away next half term for a few days, then again in the middle of the summer. All cheap flights and air bnb! Found that going away helps to zone out and relax - I was so stressed at the end of last term but felt so relaxed on holiday. Easier to put work worries to one side! Don't really go away after summer or through winter as can't afford to go anywhere warm, but maybe a couple of weekend breaks.

Usually go mid August but going 22 July this year as my place is finishing early to get demolished (!).
Might book a UK break for the Aug bank holiday too.
