As above. Thankfully he is in a serious but stable condition - his friend was killed. I'm just so shocked Sad. I know I teach predominantly disadvantaged teens but I just didn't expect it.

How awful. You like to think you'd never be in such a situation......I guess in some areas it's more common place than I realise! Surely once such an event would have been headline news? Now I suspect a youth/teen getting stabbed is such a common occurrence it doesn't make the news, or not nationally anyway.

How awful and terrifying. I hope they recover quickly and the perpetrator is brought to justice. It is terrible when things like this happen in schools. It brings fear to pupils, parents and teachers.

I'm so sorry. I've experienced similar situations twice in London schools.

Be prepared on Monday for your students to be shocked and angry. They will need you to listen but to keep things as 'normal' and as consistent as possible for them.

I really hope that your student makes a rapid recovery.

I'm so sorry. I also work in a school in a very deprived area and it always rocks the whole community. Will be thinking about you on Monday Flowers

I'm so sorry. I think people who aren't in teen violence hot spots don't realise how frequently this happens.

That's horrific. Did it happen in school? Hope you are ok.

I'm not sure anything I can say will be helpful. You must be in such a state of shock. Look after yourself this weekend Flowers

It happened outside of school, in a relatively small town with an average level of violent crime mainly centred in one area. It was in that area. This isn't a city, this isn't commonplace. We have young children and all I can think about is moving even further out of town than we already are.

How horrible for you. Sad

On a practical note, you will very likely need to change your username as there will be sufficient details to identify you, unless the one you're using is just for this post.

Heard this on the local news today. I suspect we live in the same county OP, though you're right at the top end, I'm some distance away. I know the town though.....and yes while it can be a bit rough in places you wouldn't expect this.
