Unfortunately not. I doubt MNHQ could but there's no one on at this time of night.

I think the protocol is to close the thread after directing the OP to appropriate sources of help.

It will be removed but I'm thinking leaving it a little while might mean the OP sees the replies. From their post they don't seem to realise how serious it is.

Anigh that's what I was thinking. I'm generalising but not many people know the overdose risks with beta blockers.

Just came here to say the same thing!

Report
sumsumsum · 14/01/2017 01:41

What are the overdose risks of beta blockers please? I've only just been prescribed them.

Report
UnbornMortificado · 14/01/2017 01:44

Sumsum it depends which one. Proproponol which is what doctors first choice is, is heart attack, fits or a coma.

It's more dangerous then people realise.

Just came here to report too.

Sum did you get a leaflet in the box? It should tell you everything you need to know but remember the side effects list has to list everything so don't panic if you read that bit!

Report
sumsumsum · 14/01/2017 01:48

Thanks - that's why I don't pay too much attention to the side effects list. But I;ll have a proper read now. Thanks for letting me know there's a serious risk if you take too many - the GP was very casual about it. People need to know!

I Googled propanalol overdose and there's a frightening number of articles to people dying from cardiac arrest after taking them.

If the OP genuinely has taken 30 I don't think she realises the risks. Propanalol comes in various doses too from 10 to 40mg.

Report
UnbornMortificado · 14/01/2017 02:06

ANight she hasn't specified which one but the fact it's most regularly issued and doesn't affect her usual medication would suggest it.

It's bloody dangerous. I worked alongside a mental health team years ago. I don't think the risks are adequately explained when prescribing them.

I think she probably does realise the risks and that is probably why she has taken them. Taking 30 tablets of anything is a deliberate act, surely?

I'm removing the other thread now. Clearly the OP isn't coming back. Hopefully she's sought help

Oh dear, can you not put the same message on that mnhq would?

I hope MNHQ give us some kind of feed back on her safety. Life is crap sometimes Sad

Obviously or you would have. Stupid question.

Did you put any message or let the op know you were deleting her thread, with other sources of support eg Samaritans? It's not beyond you to write a similar message is it? I'm concerned op will return to just find a deleted thread...

Report
ANightWatcher · 14/01/2017 04:28

Brokengirl I don't have the option that MNHQ has when deleting a thread to put a personal message

Night watchers have very very limited options. All we can do is hide threads or posts. When we click the hide button a generic message appears - the one you see - there's nothing else we can do or post

Report
ANightWatcher · 14/01/2017 04:29

So in answer to your question yes actually it is beyond me or any other Night Watch members to write messages

Broken11Girl · 14/01/2017 05:51

Oh ok. I didn't know that. You said you had deleted it (02.16) not hidden it. Anyway, fair enough t

Hello everyone
It's correct that our lovely night watchers can't post on behalf of MNHQ and rather than remove threads, hide them so we can review them first thing in the morning. The NWers are invaluable to us but the responsibility of how to deal with threads ultimately lies with MNHQ. Hope that clears things up.

Hi @YetAnotherBeckyMumsnet
Nearly every time on a post such as the one mentioned , the question is asked about contacting the police on behalf of Op.
I never quite know how to reply to this, although I do remember reading that it's not possible for a few reasons.
Can you help?

Report
UnbornMortificado · 14/01/2017 19:58

Are we allowed to ask if anything has been heard off the op?

Please delete if not allowed, completely understand if not acceptable due to confidentiality.

I've just been quite worried today, don't think I will of been the only one either.
