Cranial Cruciate Ligament Injury

My 10 year old tabby jumped from a fence over 2 weeks ago. She was lame in her back leg. We took her to the vet who examined her and said that there was no break and prescribed anti-inflammatories but said if she wasn't any better to go back for x-rays. She did improve slightly but was getting about by hopping, not weight bearing at all. She had the x-rays and we were told she has a cranial crutiate ligament injury. I don't know if it is a partial or complete tear and she is booked for surgery next week. Now she is still on the medication but she is walking with a slight limp but weight bearing. Obviously if she needs the surgery we will have it, but if it can heal on it's own I don't want to put her through the surgery. Any advice please.
