The litter tray

ScoopFree litter tray, has anyone used this?

We are getting a kitten at the end of the month so I’m trying to get organised! We’ve had cats before but lost both our oldies in the past 18 months. It seems things have come on a bit since their kitten days!
We are going to keep her in for at least the first 6 months so need a good litter tray. It will also be upstairs in daughter’s bedroom as we have dogs who seem to like eating the stuff 😷! Daughter is nearly 18 so very responsible and wants her in her room.
I am torn between getting the ScoopFree litter tray for ease I suppose and the cats best litter and just do the scooping!
The ScoopFree looks good but may be rubbish! Not sure of environmental impact too, that’s why I like Cats Best as it’s totally biodegradable.
If anyone has any other recommendations please feel free to suggest! Thank you.

Haven't tried the Scoop free but have seen it and wonder if the cat would still manage to get litter all over the floor. As the tray will be in the bedroom I'd go for one of those top entry litter boxes. It will keep anything nasty out of sight and minimise any litter being trodden or kicked all over the floor.

No recommendations re. tray, but once your cat is big enough to jump over it, a safety gate is a good way of stopping dogs eating litter, unless you have very large, agile dogs that can get over one.

Safety gates sold for children are cheaper than gates sold as pet gates (think this may be something do to with VAT). We used one with our Cavalier and it kept him away from the litter all his life - you can fix it in any doorway. You walk through it, the cat soon learns to leap over it.

Thank you both. I have considered getting a stair gate but not sure where to put it! Would probably have to be on the stairs. Having had 4 children and many, many years of stair gates I was liking not having the blooming things any more though!!! But a top entry litter tray may make it difficult for them to get into too, although do have visions of the Labrador coming down with it on his head!!
Was thinking of starting with a basic litter tray first so kitten isn’t too disturbed with change and having a mat in front of it to hopefully catch the bits! Then I could work up to the top entry one. Thank you.
