I've always had dogs since marrying dh nearly twenty years ago.
We live on his family farm and I've been at home since having Dd.
Obviously with lockdown I've really been at home, not left farm.
My SIL and family also live here and she rehomed three feral rescue cats. The idea being that they are outside cats and the presence helps deter rats and mice.
Dd is eighteen months and for the last eight weeks we have walked around the farm three times a day minimum looking at lambs and for the elusive cats. They are there but you never see them close by. We leave food out and they sleep in an old stable.
Since Friday all three have become her best friends. She goes into their stable every day and miaows and as of Friday they come over for a scratch and cuddle. Gently gently does it but I'm so delighted as is she.
Today they followed us on our walk, or farm inspection as we call it and her smile was ear to ear.
I may have become a cat lady. Simple thing but it made me really happy.
