The litter tray

What do I do?!

I've posted here before about our 9 year old cat. About two years ago he started randomly biting us. It's really ramped up, and we're constantly having to keep putting him in other rooms because he's constantly biting our ankles. A couple of times he's lept at us and scratched.

We've taken him to the vets who give no explanation. We've changed his food, play with him lots and try to give him lots of affection (although that's becoming harder because he'll bite every time we stroke him).

This afternoon he lept and scratched my sons face. Son is 5 and was sat on the sofa looking at a book (I was next to him). Son now has a massive scratch on his cheek.

I don't want to get rid of him, but I'm not sure what else we can do?!

If you can afford it (or if your insurance covers it), it may be an idea to get your vet to refer you to a cat behaviorist. There's normally a reason why cats misbehave, but can take a specialist to help work it out.

Jackson Galaxy where are you???

I wouldn't tolerate this behaviour and it would be a PTS situation if I was in your shoes - and before anyone jumps down my throat I love cats and am a slave to four including 2 massive Maine Coons!

What's PTS? Excuse my ignorance.

Put To Sleep.

I second cat behaviourist, no animal does something for no reason.

Jackson Galaxy is an amazing US cat behaviourist, well worth looking up on YouTube (which is why the heartfelt cry for him Grin). While you're waiting to see a UK/London based one, well worth looking him up for some tips.
