The litter tray

So angry and sad at my friends cat being kicked to death (TRIGGER WARNING: WILL UPSET YOU ALL)

I have just found out today that last night my friends cat was kicked to death in a park in Edinburgh and I am furious, sad and want to get my hands on the culprit sharpishAngry

Her cat also happens to be the mother of my cat who is now nearly 18 months. Her cat and my cat are the absolute double and I can’t help but think of my cat when I heard this, her cat was so friendly, loving and cuddly and I am so so sad, how on earth could you kick a cat to death? The fact that after the first kick the cat couldn’t run away makes me sick, she is going to the police and hopefully there was CCTV near the park, I have asked my brother, whose friend it is also, to share this information on Facebook (I don’t have it) and hopefully get this sick bastard.

I absolutely loathe animal cruelty and I swear to god if I ever get my hands on this person then I’ll do to them what they did to this poor, little defenceless animal. I have been crying and I am so glad that my cat is a house cat, you just cannot trust other human beings.

If it’s a child/teen that did it (not making sweeping statement but it’s more likely to be kids that are parks late at night) then is this possibly a killer in the making?

I just posted because I am so sad and obviously it’s my cats mother, and she had just had a little a couple of months ago so I doubt her kittens are even old enough yet to be left without a mother, wtf is wrong with people????

How awful. Why are people so vile. I hope they get caught soon. Let's hope the local media pick this story up,Flowers

Thanks for the posts, I never thought of the local media picking it up but they should, animal cruelty has always been awful from a human POV but I think now that it’s looked upon more seriously from the police, does anyone know if this is correct?

I'm really sorry to say, that even though they might take it seriously in theory, most news reports I've read locally tend to have lenient sentences. Suspended, and a 5 year ban on keeping pets (how this stops them abusing other people's pets I don't know).

I know this won't help much and I'm sorrySad

I think sharing it on Facebook will have more of a result on the person, Edinburgh is like a village and natives of the city will tell you that so imagine all your neighbours and friends knowing that you kicked a poor defenceless cat to death, it’s better than the police knowing because it’s on your criminal file and nobody gets to know what you did except the Criminal Judicial System, having people in your local area knowing is far worse for the culprit.

Omg that is awful. Your friend must be devastated.

which park?

I have friends in Edinburgh with outdoor cats I'd like to warn them.

I don't understand the mentality of people who do this kind of thing, it genuinely makes me so sad and despairing of humanity. Sad

GingkyPig I am unsure of what park exactly but she lives in the Murrayfield/Corstorphine area and it’s somewhere near there so please do warn your friends pronto, and perhaps they can keep their cat in until said culprit is caught.

Nutella yes I said it’s a serial killer in the making, I kept looking at my own lovely little cat last night and just crying, I personally want to get my hands on them!

My friend is inconsolable, as you would be, she had had this cat for at least 9 years and she was her fave out of the 3 she has, so sad.

Local press will want to know.

There is generally more of an outcry against cruelty to pets than there is over many other human on human crimes.

Check with your friend first. She needs to be able to process her grief in a way that suits her, and going to the press might not be her preference.

It's gross and I'd be same as you, sick with sadness and wanting to stalk the streets to find and dish out punishment to the maggot. Not the right move, but it's what I'd WANT to do.

Not the right move I know but of course we’re human and that’s what most humans think of first.

Apparently there is more money donated to animal shelters than ones for kids, I think that’s because people tend to think that as animals don’t have a voice then abuse is harder to see in them than it is with a child, and there are lots of people that prefer animals to humans and I don’t blame them quite frankly.

This may sound awful but as bad as I feel about the abuse of kids, then animal abuse makes me madder and I can’t help it!

Yeah I’ll see what my friend wants to do, it will take her a while to think straight but local media and having everyone knowing what you are will have more of an effect than some crappy slap on the wrist from the courts, providing this is the psychos first time in doing this. It’s no great punishment that they don’t get to keep pets though, much better that the local community finds out how sick you are and you get hassled in the street and everyone is told to keep away from ‘the animal killer’.

It's tragic but living in a city you would have to me mad to leave the cat out at night. Everyone knows there are going to be drunks or gangs out.
Even in a rural area I have always kept my cats in at night.

Not read it because I don't need that on my mind on a Saturday morning, but Flowers.

When I got my kitten from her then I immediately swore I’d never let my cat be an outdoor one, I didn’t even have in mind that a person would kill it on purpose though, I was more thinking of the traffic, etc, etc, plus outdoor cats don’t live as long as indoor cats, according to something I read on the internet anyway.

I just cannot get my head around someone doing that and in Edinburgh, I always consider Edinburgh to be really quite safe for a city, shows how naive I am.

How awful! I really hope they find who did this.

Am I reading correct that this was a 9 year old + cat that has recently had a litter? If so who on earth would breed such a senior cat!!

Gosh that is awful. I’m not a cat fan at all but how sick must a human have to be to do that to an animal. Your poor friend.

Inappropriatefemale · 20/10/2019 00:52

Indella maybe not as old as 9 then, I may be wrong about that, I’ll ask her.

Gingkypig as soon as I find out more information then I’ll be right here to share it, it’s sad that your friend lives near Murrayfield because her cats will definitely need kept in just now, for the sheer anxiety that your friend will suffer at the thought of her cat going out and not coming home for one thing.

I just can’t fathom how the poor little mite couldn’t run away after the first kick, it doesn’t bear thinking about. Sad

Wtf is wrong with some people?!

Poor little kittens being separated from their mother before time in such horrendous circumstances, honest to god I want to batter this fucker/these fuckers, even if they’re under 18 then I’d want to pay another teen to do them in, I hope this doesn’t offend anyone but I just can’t help it, the law in Scotland is crap so getting a ban on having their own pets is useless, an eye for an eye is the only way with these Neanderthals sometimes.

God knows how human loved ones of human murder victims stay dignified in court when their loved ones killer is on trial, and if they aren’t quiet and dignified then this can affect the outcome, they’re not even allowed to be emotional out loud, where the hell is the justice there?! As a human then you should have every right to not be dignified, god the world really really isn’t fair and the shitty scottish justice system is one of the most unfair out of the lot, and evil people having ‘human rights’ goes against everything that is justice, once you carry out evil crimes then imo your right to being treated like a human is gone forever.

I’m going to say to my friend about the Evening News, and maybe myself and friend plus family could put money together to offer a reward to catch the fucker(s) and put the offer in the EN, a reward gets people more motivated, especially people that don’t care for animals as much.
