So last night three cats were dorty stop outs with just Lenny left in.
This morning Basil and Sybil came in demanding food with menaces - once fed they crashed out immediately and I don't expect them to surface until this evening.
Lenny just wanted to go out straight away and Karl, when he eventually turned up an hour later, miaowed for food (he did at least have the 'good' manners to jump on the kitchen table to say hello properly) and as soon as he had eaten he buggered off out again.
When I stroked Basil's tum he bit me.
Wish I was a cat 😽.

I had both mine demanding food with menaces. Even Snorg! Very unlike her. They'd already been fed twice.

It's the heat (at least where we are). My two are currently occasionally popping home to demand some food, at very odd hours of the day, before vanishing again. Hoping they revert to being around rather more when the weather finally changes!

As soon as the summer hits I barely see mine. Goes off chasing butterflies all day I would imagine it laying in the summer. He soon comes running when it rains 😂

Ah it's crap isn't it. My poor babies are flaked out trying to keep cool but it's 38c and very humid so can't really blame them. I selfishly can't wait until November when it gets cool at night and they all snuggle up to me and demand purry cuddles.

I have two cats normally. They never stay out all night, as they far prefer the safety and comfort of the house. Mousing duties happen first thing when the door is opened or dusk to the early part of the night.

DTwatCat1 will probably emerge, yelling at me about something in the garden, shortly after dark (he doesn't leave the garden, but disappears into the deepest recesses). I usually have him sitting right next to me (and preferably - for him - actually on one of my feet) from the moment I get in from work until the moment I go to bed, with just occasional visits to the garden or to shout at the back door where an invading cat wanders past on the top of the wall. But at the moment, I am obviously dead to him.

DTwatCat2 has been replaced by a blob of fluff on the settee in front of a fan. At bedtime, she will briefly return, come upstairs, tell me how much she loves me for five minutes then resume blobby fluff duties at the end of the bed in direct line with the tower fan.

They will both remember that they do rather like me once this bastarding hot weather goes.

I'm sure you're all correct. This is just a reaction to the heat and it's not really the cats being antisocial little gits.
Last night all four of mine stayed out and even Sybil went straight back out again after breakfast.

It's so good to know that everyone else's cats are being antisocial little gits. The other night I was rattling the Dreamies and both cats were sitting about 20 feet away going, 'nah, I don't think so'...

DTwatCat came back in about half an hour ago and oh-so-dramatically hurled himself onto the floor with a thud (probably his thick head hitting it).

DP walked in as he did it. He stepped over the Dying Swan and brought my tea in.

DTwatCat didn't approve of the lack of attention. He started thwacking his tail against the floor, readjusted himself, hurled himself back down and then decided to reach out a languid paw towards the other DTwatCat who had finally moved off the settee for a minute. Cue an explosion of hisses, scrabbling around at Mach 4 upstairs, and then a return and third collapse onto the floor.

It's all so very hard for them at the moment. [/sarcasm]

My other complaint is the cats seem to have discovered the mother lode of goosegrass seeds. They come in each morning absolutely full of them and when they do decide to pay you some attention it's like stroking some hideous bobbly alien.

Mine have passed the HoneyMoon Period and have morphed into 'proper cats' (ie disdainful and judgey )

Open anything that sounds like food (especially their cannister of biscuits) , they are there like Flynn.

Try and call them in the garden, they are Selectively Deaf .

Dexter has decided brambles and bumble bees are there to entertain him and we spend most of the time saving him from himself.

Cobwebs is their thing. They go under beds , under the garden chairs, into all the inaccesible areas in the garden and come out covered in cobwebs . Which they guard fiercely , we aren't allowed to brush them off their ears.

So far, no Dead Presents but early days .

I do not want to be constantly picking fuzzy green balls out from around DTwatCat1's willie. Especially as he tends to start purring a bit too happily when I'm in the area.

Ours has planted herself in a large plant pot and only graces us with her presence after the sun goes down or for 5 minutes to eat her meals.
Though she did catch two mice last night so she's been prowling for the rest of the family, but she has competition from the DCs who have spotted one in the play room! Too much excitement for this early for me so I'm hiding with my coffee.

The weather's changed! The cats have come home!

Boycat put his nicely muddy paws all over both the duvet and the sheet underneath it, Girlcat settled down on the pile of clean clothes I was just about to iron to take on holiday.

Still, I think I'm reassured that come the autumn, I'll have actual live-in cats again, rather than just random passersby.
