The litter tray

Is 2 weeks too long to leave them?

I've been giving the opportunity to go away really cheaply in the summer but it'd mean leaving our 2 boys for a week, we'll be back for 2 weeks and then leaving them again for 2 weeks. They'll be almost 10 months by that point. We never use a cattery, always a cat sitter. Do you think they'd be okay?

I’d use a cattery, there will be other cats for company and you know where they are.

They will sulk when you return though.

We use a cat sitter when we go away. We're away for 3 weeks in May and it's the longest we've ever left him but he'll do his usual thing - eat, sleep and potter around the garden.

I'd use a reputable cat sitter that you know and trust well.
Cats become very stressed very easily and this can cause serious problems in male cats as it can lead to cystitis which can actually be fatal for a cat (discovered this in horror when my boy got stress-induced cystitis as you can't always tell a cat has it - look out for "accidents" and straining and blood in urine - we actually thought our boy was just constipated), so although your boys will be v. annoyed with you for daring to go away (we face this with our own Prince of Darkness later this year), at least they'll be in their own home environment, amongst their own things with normal smells and sounds - we're going to leave one of my jumpers by PoD's bed as he loves me more than he loves my husband - he has such contempt for my OH that he actually jumped onto the bed and did a huge coiled joke-shop crap on OH's feet for no reason.

Enjoy your time away x

Sorry, just read your OP again and didn't concentrate properly - your boys will be fine - they'll just sulk at you for a bit (but secretly love you) x
