The we’re using the litter tray quite happily and then I couldn’t get my usual litter. We have also had a couple of unsettled weeks; first happened when we were out and a baby sitter here, then when we were away and the neighbour fed them and now fireworks going off every night, Husband is very pissed off and I am getting the brunt of his frustration despite me scrubbing, cleaning and using fabreeze to get rid of the smell. How Can I stop them doing this?

Sounds like a urine infection. They've had a fair bit of stress recently.

You need a cleaner that will break down the enzymes in the urine. Unfortunately once the cat has been there before, they may return. The emzeyme cleaner works really well - SmokingCat randomly wee’d ony soda and a furry throw a few weeks back. I tried cleaning with all sorts but the smell kept returning and if I can smell it he sure can. Enzyme cleaner got rid of the smell completely and he hasn’t done it again since

As fluffy said, may be worth a vet check up for urine infection. That was the cause the first time SmokingCat ever urinated outside his litter box. It took 2 lots of tablets to get rid of it as well

One of mine does this if she’s stressed. I found the only way to stop it, is to block access to that area of the sofa. I use her brush or the remote control. All the sprays don’t work. It stops in time.
