(Little bit of background) growing up we had loads of animals including cats and I have never been allergic to them. I've always suffered with hayfever in summer though.

Last year (December) we homed two cats, one is a ragdoll one is a Siamese birman cross. I ADORE them both. I remember that I came down with hay fever very early this year and still suffering wirh red itchy eyes now... I've been coughing and sneezing for so long my husband wanted me to go to the doctors to be checked over. That's when a family member suggested I could be allergic to the cats. And now it's clicked! When I'm at home my eyes are incredibally itchy and I'm constantly sneezing. As soon as I go out it stops!! When I stroke my cats it becomes unbearable :( i dont know what to do now? Is there anything i can do? I hoover 2-3 times a day (cordless Hoover and 2 toddlers + cats) cats are well groomed every couple of days (my ragdoll has very long mattable fur) I just don't know what I can do. I'd be so greatful for any advice! Sad

Sorry this is so long!

Use Petal Cleanse wipes on the cats. It apparently works wonders

Do you take an anti histamine daily?

Take an antihistamine daily & wash your hands each time you touch them as well as petal cleanse.

They say that you eventually adjust to it. I have a slight allergy to my cats and I have to be very careful that I don't touch my face when I've stroked them. I can't hold them up to my face either, because their fur will get into my eyes and they go crazy if that happens.

If it's 'just' running eyes/nose, then I find an antihistamine helps. Unfortunately it doesn't stop my asthma, and I don't fancy regular trips to A&E - DH was warned when we got married that it was me or a cat. If you're having breathing difficulties, then you may have to rehome them.
