Margo and Barbara were spayed last Friday. Brought for a wound check yesterday, Barbara has an infection so is now on antibiotics and we are back to the vet tomorrow. She is 4 doses into the course so far. Wound is weeping still, she is sleeping by the fire, but is eating and drinking ok.

Please tell me stories of kits that recovered quickly! Have just had a little weep over her (they did look at me like I've two heads which was funny).

This is incredibly rare but I have come across it once, and the cat got better quickly and didn't seem particularly unwell. She'll be fine. Try not to worry.

Fingers crossed, she's now purring beside me on the bed.

Sounds like Barbara will be just fine. Sleeping, eating and purring are all good signs.

Barbara is looking much less bedraggled today, and is stretching out on my bed like a lady of leisure! I'm so relieved, I've had some anxiety issues in the last year and have been imagining the worst while I've bern at work the last two days.

Oh no. The cone of shame. Poor girl. We never put cones on for spays. I'd be inclined to take it off and just keep an eye on her. Unless she appears to be 'worrying' the wound I would leave it off.

She's beautiful 😻

I had a boy who had an infection after an op, I was in bits- stayed off work to look after him and everything. He coped far better than I did, I think they don't know they are supposed to be poorly so dont feel as bad as humans do (we are such drama queens!)

I hope she's back to her old self soon

Well she's eating like a starving thing so still on the mend. She didnt have a cone to start with but was licking the wound so the vet said to keep it on for a few days, she is back there Monday. It's right down to the muscle but drying up slowly, doesn't look nice at all but she is happy as Larry and the vet doesn't think there is any in the abdomen.

Just a little update, I went off on hols with everything crossed that all improvements would continue (and that my friend wouldn't have any trouble with them). Current view Smile

Although I noticed this evening that a LOT of kitchen roll was used while I was away. Plus the little darlings/fuckers left me a lovely trail of puke upstairs today. Which leads me to the conclusion that they did the same for my lovely friend who was minding them and she cleaned up and never told me. (I do have a nice pressie for her - she deserves it!)
